Veterinary and Medical Sciences should do collaborative research in the areas of public health and allied sectors- says Dr.Mohandas, Vice Chancellor, Kerala University for health and allied science.
Taking in to account the human welfare, Veterinary science and medical science must collaborate each other in the areas of mutual interest; says Dr.Mohandas, Vice Chancellor, Kerala University for Health and allied sciences. He was delivering during the endowment award ceremony organized by Veterinary Faculty Teachers Association on 11th Feb2010 at College of Veterinary and Animal sciences, Mannuthy. This type of pioneering research is taking place in Sree Chitra Institute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum; says Dr.Mohandas which is unique in the country. Health University is also thinking of replicating this model for the state.
Eight endowment awards were distributed to students and researchers. They were in memory of late Dr.C.Venugopalan, Dr.B.R.Krishnan Nair, Dr.Renchi P George, Dr.K.M.Ramachandran, Dr.P.U.Surendran, Dr.T.Prabhakaran, Dr.Sadanandan and Dr.B.Nandakumar.
Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan, Assistant Director, Department of Animal Husbandry has been selected for Dr.B.Nandakumar endowment award for his outstanding performance for a Veterinarian excelling in other fields. He has been selected based on his accomplishments in the areas of farm journalism, educational consultancy services, conservation and extension outreach programmes within the country and abroad. He is the Visiting fellow of University of Reading, U.K, Smithsonian institution, Washington DC, Part time Consultant to World Bank and CEC Commission member of IUCN from South East Asian Countries. He is a regular columnist in leading dailies and journals and has written 19 books. Dr. Chandrasekharan has been selected as the best teacher. Dr.K.Anilkumar has been felicitated for receiving best the agricultural scientist award in the state. Dr.Leo Joseph presided over the function. Sri. K.R.Viswambaran, Vice-Chancellor, Kerala Agricultural University was the chief guest. Dr.E.Nanu, Dean, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Dr.Jose John Chungath, Director, Students Welfare, Dr.B.Sunil. Dr.K.AnilKumar and Dr. T.P.Sethumadhavan spoke on the occasion. Dr.Ajithkumar welcomed the gathering and Dr. Kannan expressed vote of thanks.
